Top Video Hosting Platforms For Your Videos

Top Video Hosting Platforms For Your Videos

Now that you have created your video masterpiece where do you place it? Nowadays there are many video-hosting platforms to choose from and we will briefly discuss the 3 our clients use the most. These include YouTube, Wistia, and Vimeo. Keep in mind most of our clients use these players concurrently, depending on their video marketing strategy.

YouTube

Let’s begin with YouTube. It’s the number #2 search engine and the 3rd most visited website online. YouTube on mobile alone reaches more 18-49 year-olds than any cable network in the U.S. YouTube is unique because it’s not only a video hosting site it’s also a search engine. A video on YouTube properly tagged and named can help with SEO. YouTube is also integrated with Google ad words, which means you can easily create a video ad using your current ad words account. YouTube makes it very easy to embed your video onto your website, landing page, email campaigns, or share on social networks like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. YouTube has even developed the ability to add call to actions to videos. YouTube is a great place to start hosting your videos for free. If you have any questions regarding YouTube send us an email at the address below or give us a call at the number below.

Wistia

Next let’s talk about Wistia. Wistia is a professional video host with analytics and video marketing tools. Wistia is a true video player not a search engine. Wistia provides complete brand control and integrates nicely with marketing automation software. Wistia is an excellent resource if you plan on sending email blasts with videos or using landing pages. The analytics are powerful and robust. The biggest disadvantage of using just Wistia over YouTube is that you can’t take advantage of YouTube’s search audience and paid ads. That’s why most of our clients use both. Although Wistia offers a free starter package its mostly a paid video player solution.

Vimeo

Our last player, Vimeo, is similar to YouTube that it’s searchable but does not contain pre-roll ads or recommended videos set to auto play. This player is used to reach a smaller targeted audience and includes a customizable player with embedded options. Vimeo’s basic analytics is available to all users, but can be upgraded by converting your account to the Pro level. Vimeo reaches a much smaller search audience than YouTube and it comes with a hefty price tag. Google prefers videos from its own YouTube platform so videos on Vimeo won’t receive the same treatment on Google search as a YouTube hosted video would. A unique quality of Vimeo is that you can add a password to your video.

So let’s recap depending on your marketing strategy you may want to use a mix of these players. And with mobile being 65 percent of all web traffic in 2016 its good to know YouTube, Wistia, and Vimeo all play seamlessly on mobile.
Now that you understand our favorite video hosting options, let’s talk about how to get your video in front of your target audience.
